World Kindness Day 2020

Kindness is a fundamental part of the human condition which bridges the divides of race, religion, politics, gender, and zip codes. Thank you so much for joining us on November 13, World Kindness Day, to support Almir do Picole's Daycare in Brazil! We raised a total of $6,700 exceeding our goal of $5,000! Plus Herbaland matched the profits 100%.

$6,700 + $6,700 from Herbaland = $13,400 (R$55,000)

Every dollar made from our online sales on World Kindness Day went directly to Almir’s Community Daycare and we also matched the dollars 100%. The money we raised went towards providing food, upgrading facilities, and helping to pay their staff.

Watch as our videographer, Brucce Cabral, travelled to his home country to meet with Almir and visited the daycare facilities and the families.

A Herbaland Documentary

Herbaland’s core values are Community and Inclusivity, so on November 13, World Kindness Day 2020, Herbaland supported a Brazilian Charity called Creche Ação Solidária Almir do Picolé! (Almir do Picolé’s Community Daycare) to support underprivileged families especially single parents that don't have access to basic needs.

Our talented videographer, Brucce Cabral, travelled back to his home country Brazil over the holidays to meet with Almir, visited the daycare facilities, and got to know the families that require Almir’s support.

Almir's Story

Almir is known as “Almir do Picolé”, which means Almir Popsicle. This nickname came from his work selling popsicles, as he always devoted much of his salary to buy gifts and food for children’s christmas parties for poor communities. Coming from an orphaned background, Almir’s dream was to open up a daycare center to support children and families in need.

In 2003, he founded the "Creche Ação Solidária Almir do Picolé", in Piabeta, Brazil, initially serving 10 children. Today, the organization supports 94 underprivileged children ranging from the age of 1-5. On a regular day, the children come in at 7am and leave at 5pm, receiving 5 meals a day as well as early childhood education with basic literacy.

Almir also helps other children who do not stay at the daycare with basic food baskets and medicines. His work doesn't stop there, he also waits at the traffic lights in the city, asking others to donate money so he can buy toys and food for the children. Almir is an example that everyone, regardless of having a lot or a little, has a contribution to make towards a better society.
